FAQ’s:
How many Guests can ride at one time? We can accommodate up to 4 riders at a time.
Is there an Age Limit? Unfortunately, children under the age of 8 cannot ride outside of the arena. We do offer youth arena rides.
Do you have a weight limit for riders? Our weight limits are determined by the strength and ability of our horses. If you are over 225 lbs, please give us a call before you book your ride and we will let you know if we have a horse available for you at that time.
What should I wear/pack? Riders should wear closed toe shoes, preferably with a heel (boots) and jeans. Sunglasses or a hat, sunscreen and bug spray are also recommended. A helmet and water along with a tote on your saddle will be offered.
Must I take a lesson before going on a trail ride? Even if I am a beginner rider with no experience? No, lessons are not required before a trail ride. When we first help you mount a horse, we will give you instructions for how to control it, and your Wrangler will help you throughout the trail ride.
Do I get to saddle my own horse? No, all horses are saddled by the Wrangler. If you would like to learn how to saddle a horse, we ask that you either take a lesson.
Can I trot or canter on the trail ride? Our trails are considered scenic and rugged. They are not
conducive for riding fast. A horse may trot up a hill or speed up to catch up to the string, but we ask that you help us keep our horses at a slow and steady walking pace for their safety and yours. The trails are exhilarating and some are not for timid riders. Per our insurance: http://www.americanequestrian.com/Safety-Group-Guidelines-AEA.htm
Should we tip our Wranglers? We prefer that you do tip the guides. Also, tipping is a sign of gratuity, letting them know you had a great time on your ride.
Do you ride in the rain? Yes! However, if the temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, we will not ride outside. We now have an indoor riding area. If there is any question as to what type of riding the weather and/or trail conditions will allow, just give us a call.
Do you take groups out on the trail during thunder and lightning? We do take groups out if it is thundering, but we do not take groups out in the lightning. If you are on a ride when it starts to lightning, we head back to the barn.
- Please check availability by visiting: http://www.pwshoa.com/community-calendar.html
- Wranglers and ride times are subject to change based on the season, staffing and daylight savings time.
- Trail rides should be scheduled 24 hours in advance. This allows staff to be scheduled and the horses to be caught and trailered around regular daily feeding times. When rides are scheduled, the ranch staff needs to know the number of riders and their skill level. Horses are caught & prepared based on their availability. For instance, whether or not they have all their shoes, were ridden the same day, etc. They are matched by the Wrangler and based on the rider's skill level.
- All riders will have to sign a waiver ahead of the ride – please note, we keep these on file for the full fiscal year.
- For the safety of riders and horses all rides will require the accompany of a Wrangler.
