HUNTING PROGRAM
Our land stewardship philosophy is the preservation and enhancement of nearly 1,500 acres of open space in a manner that balances conservation with member enjoyment. Current uses of the open space include a small-scale cattle operation, habitat for horses, recreational use of our twenty-two mile trail system, hunting, agricultural production, vital birding habitat, native springs and habitat for numerous native and some exotic species.
The HOA frequently participates in wildlife and habitat improvements in support of its commitment to thoughtful land stewardship of the open space.

2021-2022 Whitetail Deer Harvest
The annual whitetail deer harvest program is developed by the Community Manager in close collaboration with our Staff Biologist, Steven Fulton and reviewed by the DEW Committee. If you are new to the community and have interest in participating in the spotlight or learning more about our wildlife management program we will feature more information & community events in our newsletter along the way to the Fall season which starts in October.
The goals of all our whitetail harvest plan include the following:
If you are interested in participating in the lease or a weekend hunt please email jasmin@walnut-springs.com.
The goals of all our whitetail harvest plan include the following:
- Developing a clear, transparent and safe management hunting program that is based on a scientifically grounded annual census of population.
- Promotion of hunting opportunities as an amenity through the HOA concierge program.
- Thoughtful consideration of the impact hunting has on blinds near residences and the greater impact on access to Open Space and the trails, during the optimal outdoor season.
If you are interested in participating in the lease or a weekend hunt please email jasmin@walnut-springs.com.
Safety is our highest priority
If your family is not participating in the harvest this year, but will be visiting the ranch trails during hunting season, please follow the mandatory Trail Closures for your safety. Trails are closed in the morning and evenings to allow the hunters the opportunity to hunt from the blinds in the designated section of the ranch (north vs south). They are otherwise open from 9-4 daily.
If you see an unmanned vehicle, Hunters will often park their vehicle at the entry point of the trail.
